One of the advertisers in our church leadership magazine, Neue, just posted this video showing the innovative QR code interaction on their ad. Pretty sweet!

Washington Wizards point guard John Wall throws out one of the worst first pitches of the season.

He’s still got some suck to go to reach the pathetic levels of Mariah Carey and that Cincinnati mayor.

Gain Followers by Slimming Down.

Looking back at my “tweet timeline” consisting of over 4500 tweets in a 3 year span, I find myself fairly pleased with the amount of information I’ve been able to provide to my followers. But have I been doing it the right way?

My goal at this time in my life is to be a resource. I want my Twitter feed to be a must-read to anyone inside or outside of my network. But I’ll be the first to admit that I try to please way too big of an audience – whether that be through my own personal tweets or people that I choose to RT. I like to tweet about comedy, marketing, politics, sports, missions, ORU life, pop culture, etc and I have been successful in gaining a relatively large group of followers by doing so (currently 473). Now I am at the point where I need to take my tweeting to the next level. So how do you and I do that?

We all need to slim down and cut out the nonsense that nobody cares about. It’s okay to tweet about a few topics, but don’t expect people to keep following you if your niche is sports and business and you continuously tweet lyrics to your favorite R&B song. I follow people that are constantly begging for more followers and I find myself asking the same questions: Why? Why would anyone want to follow someone that constantly clogs my feed with useless, meaningless, themeless jargon. Twitter is an information-based tool, so let’s encourage each other to use it properly.

Upon slimming down, you may lose a few followers, but think about how many you can gain once you become a resource to the portion of the Twitterverse that is yearning for content on your topic. Also, don’t be afraid to RT experts in the area that you want to flourish in. You can be a resource by being the middleman. No one expects a 21 year old college students to be an expert on any one topic – but you can be an expert at relaying information to your followers.

E-Myth Bites

I’m currently reading Michael E. Gerber’s “The E-Myth Revisited” and I thought I’d share some of my favorite quotes (bites) with you along the way. Thanks to my lovely iPad - I can easily go back and find all my highlights… you like that nifty product placement?

‘I wonder’ is the true work of the entrepreneurial personality.

Most businesses are operated according to what the owner wants as opposed to what the business needs.

If your business depends on you, you don’t own a business - you have a job.

The purpose of going into business is to get free of a job so you can create jobs for other people.
